ICD is pleased to have achieved successful completion of the RAAF Base Pearce risk reduction package in Western Australia. This project is part of a $150m investment from Defence to retire known risks with in the Defence Fuel Network (DFN).

The risk reduction package, which was originally designed as part of the Fuel Services Branch Defence Fuels Transformation Program (DFTP) was funded through an Estate Work Program stimulus package offered as part of the effort to counteract the COVID downturn in 2020.

In collaboration with parent company Ventia, ICD delivered this design and construct package on spec, in time, and on budget. ICD’s deliverables included initiatives that reduced both the project costs and the ongoing maintenance costs to Defence.

ICD is proud to provide engineering services to improve fuel infrastructure in support of Australia’s Defence facilities. Fuel security is a key initiative within Defence, as evidenced by the $1.1bn DFTP and more broadly as Australia seeks to shore up strategic reserves.

Trevor Walker, General Manager of ICD said of the completion: “We’re proud to be involved with this important project of works. The combined capability of engineering, construction and operations under the one team allowed for a seamless delivery of this reliable, resilient infrastructure to Defence.”

ICD has been delivering fuels projects at Defence locations around Australia for a number of years and our parent company, Ventia is one of the largest providers of Defence estate support services and facilities management, performing a wide range of services for Defence, from fuel services through to firefighting, catering, domestic services and environmental services including PFAS remediation.

The risk reduction project builds on the success of ICD and Ventia’s fast flush project at RAAF Base Darwin  and the team are looking forward to delivering on further projects in the future.

Corina Glavan, Executive Director – Facilities, SDE, for Defence’s Fuel Services Branch expressed gratitude to the teams involved: “The project was completed on spec, in time, and on budget, despite three site closures due to the pandemic restrictions and bushfire. My gratitude goes to the Ventia project team and constructors, ICD Engineering who provided the technical support.”
